Update 2Jun2016, v4.6: I started using the auto play option and noticed the timing for transitions feels fast. The final lights off segment feels too short that we don't get a chance to really see them asleep. Example, I didn't see the cow's eyes close before it moved on. Maybe some people prefer it to go quickly but I feel for my child to get the full effect I'd like to see the animals close their eyes and at least take their first sleepy breath. The relaxed and rhythmic breathing really makes a difference. Also, it would be nice if the moments back at the farmhouse were also a little longer. Your "Circus" app, which is the same concept, lingers a bit then makes the next room brighten slightly so you can see who is next. That one has a pretty good transition speed. Still love this. This and "Circus" are our staple nighttime apps.
I originally wrote a review 4 yrs ago for my first son, and am now using it for my second (Feb 2016). It's still as charming as ever and I love the extra animals - worth the purchase. Still rate this 5 stars, but despite the current version description stating, "App works perfectly again!" (or something like that) I noticed the highlights on some of the light switches aren't aligned with the actual switches. They still work, though, so it's a minor cosmetic thing. I have an iPhone 6S plus. One option I'd LOVE would be if there were options to change the features of the child shown in the window at the end of the story. The narration goes, "There's someone still awake. Do you know who that is? Yes, that's you!" and it's a little red headed boy in a window and my sons have black hair. Choice of gender, hair color, skin tone, hair style maybe - that would be awesome. I'd purchase that.
Original review: It sets up my 19-month old for sleep perfectly. His vocabulary has been exploding recently but this wonderful little book helped him learn to say "good night" and truly understand what it means. He'll tell each animal good night and tries to turn off the light (but his aim isn't great yet.) First purchased it over the 2011 holidays but not until Jan did I make it part of our nightly bedtime routine. I read maybe two other hard cover books first to relax him, and save this for last. When it's done and the music has ended I lock my phone so it too goes dark and tell him good night, then turn out the lights, and put him to bed. He's so ready to sleep by then he'll be asleep within 5 minutes. Love it. Recommending this to friends.
